DESIGN COMMUNICATION 2: FARNSWORTH HOUSE

For this assignment, we are introduced a very iconic man, 'Ludwig Mies van der Rohe' and one of his famous works, the Farnsworth House. We were given a custom plan of the building and were required to come out with projected orthographic drawings. Immediately I started researching on the building. (not the measurements of the house but the story behind it. TEEHEE) Believe me, it's much more interesting than the house itself.

And so. Eventually I found the measurements and started translating them into drawings with my gang.

Orthographic drawing

After orthographics is axonometric projection. reusing the measurements from the orthographic drawings above, we can create a 3-dimensional space to enhance the understanding of space from the above.

Lastly, we have perspective projection before we bid goodbye with our first semester buddy, the Farnsworth House.

Reflection:

Sweat and tears, coffee and eyebags, we made it through several sleepless nights tortured by technical pens as they tend to smudge easily. I messed up a whole lot of tracing paper on orthographic drawings and started to get used to it after a few exercises. It was a whole new experience drawing axono and perspective.
ps: Perspective is hard
