DOCUMENTATION AND MEASURED DRAWINGS 2016: 44, KING STREET

This short semester, our task was to document a building to as detailed as possible. Gratefully, with Dr. Nikhil Joshi's guidance, we were able to deliver perfectly throughout the 8 weeks.

There were three tasks in total, an individual sketch journal, video + report documenting the building and lastly complete measured drawings + model of the building.

The building we dealt with this semester was a unique building in George Town, Penang. Located at the heart of the UNESCO Heritage Site, 44, King Street is one of the two shophouses in Penang that has a cantilevered room. Owned by Cheah Kongsi, it is currently vacant which benefits us when we spent 4 days on site for our measured drawings.

Through this module, I've been exposed to AutoCad for the first time. It was surely an addicting but tiring process. Besides the technical skills, I've learnt a lot from Dr. Nikhil on old shophouses and brushed up my detective skills. I've realized that behind every detail, there's a story. Last but not least, I've learnt to not do donkey work and to party hard, we have to first work hard.
